How the FBI will handle the Trump-Russia probe

As the probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election heats up, the FBI is asking lawmakers to take action to make sure federal agents are not subjected to legal threats or harassment.

According to an April 4 letter from FBI Director James Comey, federal agents “will not tolerate harassment of federal law enforcement agents or those who serve them in the field” if they are involved in investigating Russian interference.

The letter also said agents will not tolerate retaliation for doing their jobs.

Comey’s letter came amid heightened tensions between the FBI and Congress as lawmakers are grappling with a slew of Trump-related controversies.

On Tuesday, Trump said that FBI agents are “going crazy” over their work and that they are “fighting for their jobs.”
